Governor Dean and the Democratic National Committee is heading to the 2007 YearlyKos Convention in Chicago this week! Several of our senior staff will be leading workshops on Thursday and Governor Howard Dean will hold a private meeting with Democracy Bond Holders (be sure to RSVP) and then provide the keynote address that evening. THE PLAN: THE 2008 GROUND GAME 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM in Room 10a DNC Political Director David Boundy will host a workshop on the DNC’s 50-State-Strategy. There he will present a powerful new tool called Vote Builder which will be used by grassroots activists to target, contact, identify and turnout Democratic voters in every precinct in America. This training will include a discussion about how the Democratic Party is updating the means by which we communicate with voters, including an increased emphasis on both new media technologies and old school neighbor-to-neighbor organizing at the precinct level.
THE CONVENTION: THE ROAD TO DENVER 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM in Room 10a Come learn all about the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. DNC Training Director Parag Mehta will demystify the process for becoming a delegate to the convention and explain additional opportunities for participation in convention activities. This workshop will also include a briefing by the Convention’s Deputy CEO for Public Affairs Jenni Engebretsen on what to expect in Denver for first-time convention goers. Special guest: Brittney Wilburn from ProgressNow.org.
THE MESSAGE: SPEAKING WITH ONE VOICE 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM in Room 10a DNC Communications Director Karen Finney will cover the principles of framing, message discipline, effective techniques for voter contact and values-based communication. Additionally, DNC Research Director Michael Gehrke will go over the Democratic Party's frame on the 2008 Republican presidential candidates.
THE CAMPAIGN TEAMS: BRINGING THEIR A-GAME 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM in Room 10a DNC Internet Director Josh McConaha will introduce you to Internet Directors from several Democratic presidential campaigns so you can hear first-hand what they are doing to expand outreach to primary and caucus voters via the World Wide Web. This session will include an interactive discussion about the impact of what’s happening online in right now on next year’s general election strategy.
Democracy Bond Holders Thank You Meeting 6:15 PM – 6:50 PM in Room TBA Governor Howard Dean will hold a short thank you meeting with Democracy Bond Holders. Make sure to RSVP for the meeting at the DNC’s website.
THURSDAY EVENING KEYNOTE 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM in Room 100a-c Governor Howard Dean, Chairman of the DNC, will join Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and DailyKos founder Markos Moulitsas Zúniga for the official kick-off of the 2007 YearlyKos Convention.
